The FIXED STARS in ASTROLOGY

Procession of the Equinoxes 1.jpg

I offer you this basic information on the Fixed Stars in Astrology, premising that I am not an astrologer and this information is based on the answers to the questions I am trying to give myself about my existence and on the basis of the related information found through astrology courses and internet searches .

Their presence is no longer the fruit of the imagination, since it is enough to raise your eyes to the sky and you see many stars ... perceived with the naked eye with more or less greater luminous intensity.

The Fixed Stars have not very often been taken into great consideration for what they represent, since they pertain to topics that are not believed in such as Karma and Destiny … or the path that our soul chooses to take when it decides to incarnate in the human body (KARMA AND LUNAR NODES).

This branch of astrology can be of great help in interpreting a birth chart.

In fact, the higher the evolutionary level of the individual, the lower the sensitivity of the subject to the positioning at the time of birth and to the transits of the so-called fast planets.

On the other hand, the sensitivity to the transit (and to the positioning at the moment of birth) of the slow Planets increases, to become dependent on the position of the Fixed Stars.

We distinguish:

  • Fast planets: Mercury, Venus and Mars;

  • Semi-slow planets: Jupiter and Saturn;

  • Slow Planets: Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.

The Fixed Stars have become a point of reference ever since Man began to take his first steps in observing the celestial vault to try to understand its meanings and dynamics, the Fixed Stars, so called because (unlike other celestial bodies) appear to remain motionless.

From Assyrians to Greeks, da Philolaus e Ptolemy up to Edmund Halley, the Fixed Stars have always assumed great importance in the development of astronomy,

Edmund Halley was the first to intuit their movement, albeit almost imperceptibly.

In astrological practice the Fixed Stars take on a certain relevance especially for the conjunctions that the Planets (of birth or transit) form with the same more important Stars.

It seems that the influence determined by these celestial bodies has a specific relationship with the destiny of the individual.

A nature is attributed to each Fixed Star which assimilates it to the astrological meaning of one or more Planets, and the interpretation of a Planet-Fixed Star conjunction is based on the influence that the Star exercises on what the Planet represents in the general picture.

The meaning of the Fixed Star must never be taken as a stand-alone factor, but must be integrated with the whole of the astral picture.

The Fixed Stars should only be considered in a natal chart if they are closely conjunct the natal Planets, or the 4 cardinal points of the chart.

It is believed that:

  • For Stars of primary magnitude (Sirius, Aldebaran, Regulus, Acrux, Antares, Arcturus, etc.) the conjunction must be considered at 2 degrees;

  • For those of secondary magnitude, the conjunction must be 1 degree, max 1.30.

Depending on the nature of the Star (whether positive, negative, neutral) this modifies the effects of the Planet, not only on the birth chart, but also on transits. Obviously the type of modification also depends on the type of star.

The Fixed Star combined with a Planet modifies its effects until completely reversing the typical effects of the Planet:

  • A positive star in conjunction with Saturn can transform this "great malefic" into a planet that brings good luck;

  • A Negative Star can lead an individual to absolutely abnormal levels of depravity and wickedness.

  • The same goes for the Sun, Jupiter and the Moon.

The transits on the points where there are Fixed Stars determine exceptional events.

Through the Planets and their aspects it is possible to elaborate rational predictions, but sometimes they don't work because there is a Fixed Star hidden behind it, which discharges its energy on one of the Planets involved in that given aspect (or even on the … midpoint of the aspect : the Swiss astrologer Hirscher discovered remarkable things in this regard), nullifying the effects that the canonical interpretation would have meant.

The most important conjunctions are:

  • Those with the Sun, Moon, Jupiter, Saturn, and slow Planets;

  • Those to the Ascending (ASC), to the Midheaven (MC), to the Descending (DSC) and to the Fondocielo (IC).

To calculate the conjunctions to the cardinal points it is necessary to know exactly the date and time of birth of the person, because even a few minutes of difference make the conjunction to these 4 points of the birth chart ineffective.

If the exact time of birth is not known, there is always the possibility of calculating the exact conjunction to the planets because, while the 4 cardinal points move by about 1 degree every 5 minutes, the position of the planets remains unchanged with respect to the stars.

In fact, the position of the Fixed Stars is calculated by considering their projection on the ecliptic, which varies by one degree every 72 years.

To give some examples of what could be interpreted through the Fixed Stars:

  • between the 15th of Libra and the 15th of Scorpio: there would be a gathering of so-called malefic Fixed Stars therefore the influence of any planet that falls in this area should generally be negative;

  • 16th degree of Leo, degrees of Taurus (17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, 23rd, 26th), which would incline people to murder and violence;

  • 26th Degree Leo, that prone to alcoholism;

  • 10° and 18° Gemini, 10° Virgo, would be inclined towards murder;

  • 7° of Cancer, Libra, Capricorn and Aries to disability (there is a trace of this in the teaching of one of the oldest interpretive schools of the fixed stars, the Chaldean one);

  • Other examples divided by categories from the site constellationsofwords.com.

At the moment of birth the Stars are positioned:

  • Stars on angle at moment, a sort of announcement about who is coming to Earth;

  • Heliacal Rising Star, a sort of indication of who we are at the "start" of life on Earth;

  • Heliacal Rising Star, a kind of indication of who we should be at the "finish line" of our life on Earth if we all do the prescribed "homework" along the way;

  • Stars of Youth, indications on our journey in youth (approximately 0-30 years);

  • Stars of Prime, indications on our path in maturity (approximately 30-60 years);

  • Stars of Latter Years, indications on our journey in old age (indicatively from 60 years onwards);

  • Stars of Foundation, indications on the perception they had of us at the end of our existence.
